ABOUT US
When the floods hit Brisbane in 2022, many Australians wanted to help but there was no capacity to manage community volunteers who turned up to offer spontaneous support. Disaster Relief Australia and NAB Foundation decided to address this issue and bring together community volunteers and provide coordinated assistance to enable volunteers to help.
The NAB Foundation Recovery Crew was born. Launched in 2023, it is a collective of everyday Australians and corporations, who want to roll up their sleeves to help when and where they can.

Disaster Relief Australia co-ordinates people who want to help communities get back on their feet after disasters. The NAB Foundation Recovery Crew invites those who want to assist, even if just for a day, to sign up and step up as and when they can.
IT TAKES MANY HANDS
Disaster Relief Australia co-ordinates people who want to help recovery efforts on the ground and those in need. If you can spare just one day every so often or even as a one off, join the NAB Foundation Recovery Crew.
“If you put a couple of hands together it goes a lot quicker than someone struggling on their own.”
“I could really see the impact we had, which was rewarding. It took 15 people 4-5 hours to clear out a house for a single lady. I can’t even begin to imagine how she would do it by herself, let alone how long it would take her.”
“We were able to make a big difference in one person's world”
“It was very emotional seeing and helping someone who had lost so much. I was extremely glad I went to help and felt I made a big difference”
“There was a clear impact, and it was so valuable getting to help a real person who was going through a difficult time”
“Before going into it I was a bit apprehensive about what sort of scenes I would be witnessing and if I would be able to add much value to the lives of the people we were helping. I personally struggle with diving into things that I know little about. But I'm SO glad that I did - for me it was stepping out of my comfort zone. I'm glad I drove through that fear of the unknown.”
